The renaissance began in florence with the medici family and spread throughout europe. This era has been considered as the golden age of the arts because of the changes that took place throughout the small period of time. This time period is defined as the renewal of art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th–16th centuries. The Renaissance was an influential cultural movement which brought about a period of scientific revolution and artistic change at the start of modern European history. It marks the transitional period between the end of the Middle Ages and the start of the Modern Age.

His many works combine visual perspective and fascination with texture to initiate renaissance painting in florence. He profoundly influenced the art of painting and is considered to have begun the Early Italian Renaissance In just a span of six years, Masaccio radically transformed Florentine painting.
